Les fabuleux Freak Brothers #4
The fourth volume of this French-language intégrale collecting Gilbert Shelton and Dave Sheridan's beloved underground comic brings the Freak Brothers to a gritty city street scene, where the trio of shaggy countercultural characters — Fat Freddy, Freewheelin' Franklin, and Phineas — stride through an urban crowd outside what appears to be an employment agency (A.N.P.E.), their portraits medallioned along the bottom of the cover. Shelton and Dave Sheridan's linework crackles with street-level energy, populating the background with a wonderfully odd cast of pedestrians and a beat-up car rounding the corner. Published by Artefact in 1983, this collection is a treat for francophone fans of underground comix at its most irreverent and alive.
