The first volume of Jack Manini's Les Croquemagnons arrives with a cover that sets the prehistoric tone perfectly: a wide-eyed, blue-haired little caveкid looks thoroughly unimpressed — or perhaps just startled — by the enormous saber-toothed white tiger looming directly behind them, jaws agape and orange eyes blazing. Subtitled Mange tes doigts de pieds, this 2005 Éditions Carabas release promises a playful, irreverent take on Stone Age life where the dangers are very large and the heroes are very small.
