The third installment of Une Enquête de Kazimir from Vents d'Ouest delivers a gripping cold-weather atmosphere, with a bearded, heavyset man gripping a pistol dominating the foreground while a small, bundled child stands vulnerably behind him against a stark, snow-covered landscape. The tension between protector and threat feels palpable in this composition by Adam and Martin, whose clean, confident linework makes the wintry palette of grey, red, and icy blue all the more striking. If the first two volumes of Kazimir's investigations drew you in, this 2010 entry looks set to push the stakes even further.
