Volume 12 of Les Carnets de l'Apothicaire arrives with one of the series' most dreamily beautiful covers yet, courtesy of artist Nekokurage from a storyboard by Itsuki Nanao. Maomao is rendered in soft watercolor blues and greens, her dark hair adorned with pearl-and-flower pins as she raises one arm aloft — a tiny green frog perched playfully atop her hand — her expression calm and knowing against a hazy, flowing backdrop. It's a cover that perfectly captures the series' blend of quiet intelligence and delicate elegance, making this 2023 Ki-oon edition a pleasure to hold as well as to read.
