Leroy tries to help his mother around the house after his father insists he pitch in, starting with a disastrous attempt at making breakfast that drives his dad to eat at a diner instead. Desperate to prove himself useful, Leroy organizes a housecleaning party with friends who owe him favors—but the scheme quickly spirals into chaos when the guests decide their debts are paid and abandon him with all the furniture outside and his mother due home any minute.

Leroy's convinced that only men have the strength to handle tough jobs—until he encounters Dixie Durbin, a champion weight lifter and wrestler who's more than happy to prove him wrong. When Leroy's bumbling attempt to change a tire goes spectacularly sideways, Dixie steps in to show what real strength looks like, leaving our overconfident hero humbled and headed straight to the gym to sign up for muscle-building lessons.

When Leroy shows up to a masquerade party in a prisoner costume complete with ball and chain, a series of hilarious misunderstandings turns him into an accidental fugitive—complete with bloodhounds, escaped convicts, and trigger-happy cops all hot on his trail. As the chaos spirals from the rose bushes to Kelly's Diner to a stolen police car, Leroy finds himself caught in the middle of a real crime spree, ball and chain and all. By the time the dust settles, this hapless teenager becomes an unlikely hero—though he's far too rattled to enjoy the attention.
