On location in Europe, Mary stars in a movie with 'Beau Joe' Kulak who is smitten with the mysterious Madame Bauer. When Madame Bauer hears that Mary thinks they have met before, she engineers a car accident on the set that injures Mary's face. Ironically, Madame Bauer's husband is one of the leading plastic surgeons in the world. When Pete arrives at the hospital, he recognizes Madame Bauer as Anya Kapek, who had once been his tormentor when he had been a prisoner behind the Iron Curtain.
