Leave It to Binky #51

DC's teen humor series is in fine form with this November 1955 issue, as Bob Oksner's cover captures Binky — wearing his number 7 jersey and clearly smitten — charming the stylish, red-dressed Peggy while a younger kid dressed head-to-toe in Davy Crockett frontier gear (complete with coonskin cap and rifle) tags along uninvited. Peggy's amused retort, "But Binky, you're not Davy Crockett!", perfectly captures the light, breezy humor that made this series a delight, with floating red hearts adding a touch of lovesick comedy to the scene. Oksner's clean, expressive linework gives the whole cover an irresistible warmth that reflects the fun of mid-1950s teen comics at their most charming.
