“Good Intentions”

A kissing booth at a charity bazaar has never looked this chaotic — the cover by Bob Oksner shows a glamorous blonde running a "25¢ A Kiss" stand that's already been slapped with a "Closed for Repairs" sign, much to the apparent frustration of a teen in a number-7 sweater and the amusement of a smitten fellow leaning in hopefully, while another couple sneaks off in the background beneath a cheerful string of paper lanterns. Oksner's breezy, expressive linework captures the teen-comedy energy that made Leave It to Binky such a fun corner of DC's 1951 lineup. With 52 big pages for just a dime, this is lighthearted, laugh-ready entertainment that holds up wonderfully.
