“Calling All Cats!”

A wolf named Wolfie sits dutifully in a chair, apparently expecting a free phrenology reading, while a smirking pig named Peter holds a rope rigged to tip a paint-filled can directly over Wolfie's unsuspecting head — a perfectly timed gag that promises a very red outcome. Otto Feuer's cheerful linework gives this December 1954 DC funny-animal romp an irresistible slapstick energy, with the banter between the two characters spelling out the joke in style. Leading Screen Comics #72 is a delightful ten-cent slice of mid-1950s humor comics at their most playful.
