Peter Porkchops is full of confident charm on this cheerful 1953 DC cover by Otto Feuer, gliding ahead on roller skates at the starting line while a hapless Wolfie spins out with a resounding "SWOOSH" — Peter's gleeful taunt, "I'll be waiting for you at the finish line, Wolfie!" says it all. Feuer's clean, expressive cartooning gives the scene an irresistible slapstick energy, with two smaller character vignettes peeking in from the top of the cover for good measure. A delightful snapshot of mid-century funny-animal comics at their most playful, all for a dime.
