About this Collection

This first volume of 'Le Vol du Corbeau' collects the opening chapters of a French-Belgian comic series published by Dupuis. The story follows a mysterious character known as the Crow, whose flight sets the stage for an adventure blending intrigue and action in a European graphic novel tradition.

"Le Vol Du Corbeau" #1, a gripping wartime tale from 2002, introduces Jeanne, a resistance sympathizer arrested in Paris during the final days of World War II, and Francois, a daring thief whose quick wit and charm prove essential when they escape together during an air raid. Written and illustrated entirely by Jean-Pierre Gibrat, the story unfolds across the rooftops of occupied Paris, where a shared peril forges an unexpected bond between two very different souls. The cover by Jean-Pierre Gibrat captures the tension and shadowed beauty of their flight.

In Paris near the end of World War II Jeanne has been denounced for helping the resistance and arrested by the local collaborators. She escapes jail during an air raid in the company of Francois, a charismatic thief before they can be handed to the Gestapo, although Jeanne hurts her ankle doing so.
