In Paris near the end of World War II Jeanne has been denounced for helping the resistance and arrested by the local collaborators. She escapes jail during an air raid in the company of Francois, a charismatic thief before they can be handed to the Gestapo, although Jeanne hurts her ankle doing so. A night on the rooftops reveals much about both of them, and they form a strange bond that becomes more when Jeanne requires hiding and help finding her sister.
