Sur son île repaîre Bill essaye de soutirer de l'argent au banquier Essen. Il le place dans un batiscaphe transparent à 1.000 mètres dans la mer avec de quoi survivre quinze jours. Si à cette date il n'a pas cédé il sera mort. Pendant ce temps, l'amirauté est furieuse d'avoir laissé Bill partir, mais se résigne à penser que ses équipements ne sont pas de taille à lutter. Le Capitaine Wells propose alors un plan. L'amirauté réunie tous les directeur des compagnies aériennes. Peu après, tous les journaux annoncent une récompense d'un million de dollars pour la capture de Bill. Dario rend alors visite à Dino pour lui proposer une affaire.
