In "Zorro et les maraudeurs de Monterey [partie 8]," Zorro and Bernardo arrive in Monterey only to be robbed on their first night—just as Zorro suspects the thieves knew exactly where to find them. When Zorro confronts Gregorio Verdugo with the theft and the danger posed by the robbers, who seem to be targeting a shipment of 17,000 Pesos meant for Los Angeles, the situation grows dire: Bernardo is captured, and the crooks demand the money in exchange for his life. As Zorro races to free his friend, he uncovers a betrayal within Verdugo’s household—his servant Pablo is the mastermind behind the scheme.
