Set against the ornate ironwork balconies of a New Orleans night, this 1997 Dargaud album from Godard and Ribera drops two protagonists — a young woman and a man in a checked jacket — into what looks like urgent, nervous flight through the French Quarter streets, while shadowy figures loom ominously in the background. The atmosphere is thick with tension and Southern Gothic atmosphere, the city itself feeling like as much of a threat as anyone on the page. A moody, stylish entry in Le Grand Scandale that uses its New Orleans setting to full, evocative effect.
