During a drought, Bowen cuts Forrester's cattle off from their route to water. Desperate, Forrester has Slade and Lopez steal 200 of Bowen's cattle. The sheriff finds out, but has evidence to arrest only Lopez. After Bowen kills Forrester, Slade kills Bowen. Needing a tracker to pursue Slade through the desert, the Sheriff reluctantly frees Lopez. As the desert whittles the posse down Lopez knocks the sheriff out, leaves him with all the water, and finds Slade. Together, they struggle out of the desert.
