This anthology issue contains multiple crime and adventure stories drawn from police files. A man is found burned to death in his driveway, sparking a murder investigation that leads Sheriff Stockburger to uncover a porcelain bowl and a box of matches as key clues. With no fingerprints and a trail pointing to the victim’s ex-wife, the case takes a twist when the couple’s daughter recounts seeing her father set ablaze—just as the authorities trace the matches and gasoline to a recent purchase made by the wife.
