As the trio stumbles through the neighborhood—Mr. Lodge struggling to keep up, Smithers lounging in luxury—the real workout may be the laughs. Penciled and inked by Al Hartley, this 1969 gem features a delightfully awkward chase through Riverdale, with Dan DeCarlo’s cover capturing the chaos in classic Archie style.
In "The Magic of Love," Dilton’s sudden obsession with a manikin sends Moose into a tizzy, convinced his friend has finally found romance—only for Archie and Jughead to follow Dilton’s odd behavior with growing confusion. When Dilton convinces a store clerk to sell him the manikin and then dashes toward school, Miss Grundy’s deadpan remark about his “robot” leaves the gang wondering just how far Dilton’s latest scheme has gone.
In "Pic Trick," Archie and Reggie take a turn on the ice, where Reggie casually asks for a small photo of Archie—claiming it’s just to save money by avoiding wallet openings. Archie, misunderstanding the request, teases him about feelings, but Reggie quickly clarifies it’s all about practicality. The story captures a classic moment of miscommunication with a playful twist, all in a single page of lighthearted teen humor.
In "Jog Jag," Mr. Lodge’s attempt to stay fit by taking up jogging leads to a hilariously awkward encounter with Archie, Jughead, and Smithers, who tag along more out of curiosity than fitness. When the trio catches up to him, Mr. Lodge’s enthusiasm quickly fades—especially after a dramatic fall over a fire hydrant—leaving him ready to quit. Meanwhile, Smithers, content in his comfort zone, treats the boys like VIPs, turning the whole ordeal into a lighthearted, playful farce.
In "Party Smarty," Li'l Jinx takes charge of planning a surprise party, energetically coordinating every detail over the phone with Greg. As she enthusiastically confirms guest lists and secrets, her dad watches in mild confusion—until the big reveal, when she finally admits the party’s for her.
