A wounded soldier pushes through dense jungle undergrowth, machine gun at the ready, while an enormous skull looms in the fiery orange sky behind him — Thomas Legrain's cover for Latah sets an immediately foreboding tone. Published by Le Lombard in 2023, this Belgian graphic work pairs Legrain's tightly rendered linework with MiKl's scorched, amber-drenched colors to striking effect. If this cover is any measure, Latah promises a war narrative that doesn't flinch from the shadow death casts over those who walk through it.
