Reiser's anarchic wit is on full display in this third volume of La vie au grand air, published by Albin Michel in 1997. The cover says it all: a wild-haired, barely clothed caveman-type stands triumphantly atop a battered, bloodied crocodile, casually holding a hammer as if the encounter were just another Tuesday. It's the kind of gleefully absurd image that perfectly captures Reiser's darkly comic vision of humanity roughing it in the great outdoors.
