The fifth and final chapter of L'Ordre Impair arrives with a quietly striking cover: a dark-haired woman in silver armor cradles a small red book close to her chest, her expression turned inward and contemplative — the subtitle Où tout s'achève ("Where everything ends") giving the image a haunting sense of closure. Paul Teng and the artistic team of Cristina Cuadra and Rudi Miel bring a mature, European elegance to this 2008 Le Lombard release, with restrained color and delicate linework that feel perfectly suited to a story reaching its conclusion. A compelling finish to the series, and a fine showcase of the thoughtful storytelling this Belgian publisher does so well.
