The second volume of this French crime series from Editions Carabas opens with a cover that pulls no punches: a young man lies fallen on the ground, surrounded by the legs and feet of a threatening crowd closing in around him — Arnaud Guillois's clean, angular linework giving the scene a tense, almost cinematic stillness. The muted palette of burgundy and grey makes that lone prone figure all the more vulnerable. It's a striking composition that sets a hard-edged, street-level tone for Harry's story in L'Irlandais.
