L'Homme de l'année #4
This volume of Lupano, Séjourné, and Verney's L'Homme de l'année turns its lens on 1967, framed by the striking subtitle L'homme qui tua Che Guevara — "the man who killed Che Guevara." Séjourné's cover painting sets an atmosphere of dusty, sun-baked tension: a lone figure in dark fatigues stands in the middle of a sparse rural village, thatched-roof huts stretching behind him beneath a hazy mountain range, a few chickens pecking at the earth in quiet contrast to the weight the scene carries. It's a beautifully understated composition that captures the remote, almost forgotten corners of history where pivotal moments so often unfold.
