The third volume of Brunschwig, Servain, and Guth's French thriller series brings us L'Enfant au fond du jardin — a quietly unsettling cover that sets the mood perfectly. A lone figure stands in a shadowy garden, accompanied only by a small white cat, while the angular contrasts of light and darkness lend the scene an eerie, atmospheric tension. Delcourt's Sang Froid imprint was producing some of the most thoughtful crime and suspense bandes dessinées of 1998, and this installment of L'Esprit de Warren looks like a compelling reason why.
