From Yoon-Sun Park and Thomas Gosselin comes this delightfully odd French-language album from Vide Cocagne, its cover bursting with hand-painted charm. A rainbow-striped rocket launches through a star-scattered cosmos, three wide-eyed passengers peering out its portholes while satellite dishes bearing tiny creatures orbit the ship — all surrounded by labeled drifting vegetables like eggplant, cucurbita, and Chinese brassica floating through the void. It's a warm, whimsical vision of space travel that feels utterly its own thing, and 2018 was clearly a fine year for comics this cheerfully strange.
