The third volume of Zidrou and Arno Monin's tender L'Adoption series carries the title "Wajdi," and its cover sets a quietly emotional tone — a woman in a red coat stands near a modern home's exterior wall, while a small child walks away in the background amid trees and carefully tended garden planters, a white cat threading through the scene. Monin's delicate linework and soft, naturalistic palette give the whole image a sense of distance and longing that feels deeply human. Published in 2021 by Bamboo Édition under their Grand Angle imprint, this is thoughtful Franco-Belgian storytelling at its most understated and affecting.
