The cover of this 2024 Dutch-language album from Daedalus immediately commands attention: a powerfully built, bare-chested warrior raises a katana overhead while a determined young woman in the foreground holds her own blade at the ready, with a wintry snow-dusted landscape behind them. Emiliano Zarcone's painted cover work gives both figures a striking, almost cinematic presence that suits the "Daimyo" chapter of Kurusan – De zwarte samoerai perfectly. Writers Thierry Gloris and Frank Vanzeer continue their feudal saga here, and if this cover is any indication, tension and steel are very much at the heart of it.
