Kukabura #1

Four battle-worn figures perch atop the wreckage of what appears to be a downed spacecraft, a massive planet looming in the star-filled sky behind them — it's a striking opening image for Kukabura: Planeta Dakoi, brought to Polish readers by Egmont Polska in 2002. Crisse's cover work crackles with sci-fi energy: a heavily armed crew — one hoisting an oversized cannon, another armed and alert, a third with wild white hair, and a fourth braced at the edge — radiates the gritty, lived-in feel of a team that's seen serious trouble. Written by Crisse and Maria Mosiewicz with art and inks by Crisse and colors by Anyk, this is an inviting entry point into a wide-open interplanetary adventure.
