Krazy Komics #8

A delightful slice of wartime funny-animal chaos, this June 1943 issue of Krazy Komics features a dapper cat snoozing away in a hammock strung between two trees, blissfully dreaming of logs while a mischievous pig, a stumbling purple donkey, and a rabbit in a red suit scheme below with what appears to be a noisemaker. The setup perfectly teases the interior story "The Pied Piper's Revenge," with all the ingredients of a classic cartoon caper right there on the cover. Al Jaffee handles the full art duties here, and his lively, expressive linework gives every character — sleepy, sneaky, or otherwise — a wonderfully animated personality.
