The second chapter of this Dutch-language fantasy series, "Krijgers van het duister" (Warriors of the Darkness), arrives with a cover by Emmanuel Civiello that immediately commands attention — a small, frightened child flees between crossed swords while a leering dark creature looms on one side and a pale, silver-haired warrior woman stands resolute on the other, all overshadowed by the enormous golden eyes of a beast filling the sky above them. Civiello's richly painted style wraps the scene in an atmosphere that feels both fairy-tale and genuinely menacing, drawing from the Breton folkloric tradition of the korrigans. This 2008 Daedalus release is a compelling showcase for the series' blend of myth, shadow, and wonder.
