The final issue of Milestone's Kobalt goes out in a blaze of action, with Dakota's most mysterious protector locked in a fierce mid-air clash against a hulking, spike-armored foe amid an explosion of fire and debris — a fittingly intense farewell image rendered by cover artist Kent Williams. Subtitled "Up in Smoke" and billed right on the cover as a final-issue collector's item, this September 1995 chapter closes the book on the "Long, Hot Summer" crossover alongside Kobalt's own run. Rozum, Battle, and Quijano brought this series to life, and Williams sends it off with a cover that captures exactly the high-stakes energy that made Kobalt one of Milestone's more compelling street-level heroes.
