A delightful special volume from Holzhof Comics celebrating "50 Jahre Karl Gabel," this 2006 Sonderband collects Erich Schmitt's Die Reise zu den Proximanen in its original "Urfassung" edition. The cover — pencilled and inked by Schmitt himself — sets a charmingly absurd scene: a goggled rider on a small red motor scooter blasts a jet of flame toward a towering, placid sauropod dinosaur, all against a backdrop of mountains and open green plains. It's a wonderfully offbeat image that captures the humor and imagination that made East German comics storytelling so distinctive.
