King of Nowhere #5

The penultimate issue of W. Maxwell Prince and Tyler Jenkins's surreal BOOM! Studios series arrives with a cover that pulls no punches — a dark-haired man wearing goggles presses a red gun to the head of a wide-eyed, pale figure rendered in an almost mask-like pallor, tension radiating outward in sharp red bursts. Tyler Jenkins's loose, painterly linework and Hilary Jenkins's warm amber palette give the scene an unsettling dreamlike quality that perfectly suits the series' off-kilter tone. If this fifth chapter is anything like what the cover promises, King of Nowhere is heading somewhere genuinely strange and gripping.
