Volume 117 of Merho's beloved Belgian series finds the Kiekeboe family assembled in front of what appears to be an ice cream van — complete with an oversized cone mounted on its roof — setting a cheerfully absurd summer tone that only this series can deliver. The cover brings together four familiar figures: the mustachioed Fernand in his white outfit, a blonde in a red top, a green-jacketed woman with arms folded, and the small red-nosed youngster in his signature cap. Drie Bollen met Slagroom ("Three Scoops with Whipped Cream") promises the kind of warm, witty humor that has kept this long-running Flemish comedy strip a household favorite well into 2008.
