This issue contains two stories. In "The Broken Idol," Kid Montana faces a desperate outlaw, a kid brother, a gang of gunmen, and a deadly rattler as they try to get him. In "The Spotted Mutt," after the Kiowa Indians' struggle against the white man ended, they were placed on a reservation in Montana where during a harsh winter, tribal members face starvation as they wait for government agents to bring food. "Holdup!" features Kid Montana confronting the outlaw known as "Black Mask," who carries a Wells-Fargo money box; the story reveals Black Mask is involved with a schoolteacher and references the Texas Rangers.

The Broken Idol!
5 pp · Western-Frontier

When former trail partners Kid Montana and Logan Yates meet again, Logan has turned to a life of crime—and his younger brother Billy, dazzled by what he sees as his brother's toughness, has fallen under his spell. As Logan gathers his gang to make a final stand against the Kid, Billy must watch his idol face the truth about the man he's worshipped. "The Broken Idol!" explores what happens when the myth a boy believes in collides with the reality of who his brother really is.

The Spotted Mutt
3 pp · Western-Frontier

When a Kiowa boy on a Montana reservation refuses to let his starving tribe eat his beloved spotted dog, he's brought before his father the Chief and faces harsh judgment—but a sudden blizzard and an unexpected rescue change everything. Young Bear learns that his loyalty to his friend may have saved his people after all, as the agents reveal how the dog led them through the snow to find the village.

No Death For the Enemy
5 pp · Western-Frontier

Kid Montana bullets down a Yaqui warrior in the Sonora wilderness, but quick thinking and quicker mercy transform an ambush into an alliance—when the wounded man's village mistakes the Kid for one of the brutal bandits terrorizing their silver-mine settlement, Kid Montana proves his good faith the only way that matters in frontier country: with his gun pointed at their real enemy. Outnumbered and outgunned, the Kid and his new allies must turn the tables on a ruthless band of killers before the mountains run red.

Holdup!
3 pp · Western-Frontier

A mysterious outlaw called "Black Mask" has been systematically robbing stages on the Malpaise Line, and Texas Ranger Sam Harlan is assigned to stop him—but the case takes an unexpected turn when the ranger discovers the driver of one of the robbed stages may be more involved than he appears. As Harlan closes in on his suspect, a clever confrontation on the trail reveals exactly how deep the conspiracy runs.

The Dude Schoolmaster
7 pp · Western-Frontier

Edward Laughlin arrives in the rough frontier town to teach school, but his Eastern ways and refusal to compromise on historical truth—particularly about the outlaw Quantrell—draw the ire of the powerful Clay family. Kid Montana watches as the principled schoolmaster faces a brutal choice between his pacifist convictions and defending his students from a rival school teaching revisionist lies. This is a tale of integrity tested in a land where guns speak louder than lessons.
