In "The Count," the Kid and the Keeper investigate a mysterious disturbance when Rembrandt senses something amiss with one of his paintings—only to discover the infamous Count has come to life from the canvas, turning art into menace.
Kid Eternity and his companion investigate a crumbling mansion haunted by the lingering malice of Jason Mulgrew, a criminal who rigged his hundred-year-old estate with deadly traps meant to torment his heirs. When the Mulgrew descendants arrive to claim their inheritance, Kid Eternity summons great figures from history—Detective David O'Brien, Thomas Edison, and the hero Achilles—to uncover what Mulgrew truly left behind. As mechanical death traps spring to life and secrets buried for a century begin to surface, Kid Eternity must use his unique power to protect the innocent and expose the dark legacy of a man who sought revenge from beyond the grave.
When Kid Eternity rolls into the town of Sackville, he stumbles onto a racket: the crooked Mayor Boss Dreer has seized power through fraud and now bleeds the townspeople dry with brutal "taxation" enforced by his gang of thugs. Recognizing the parallel to colonial tyranny, Kid Eternity summons the fiery orator Patrick Henry to stir the frightened citizens to stand against their oppressor—but inspiring a town to rebel against a ruthless boss is easier said than done. Will the people of Sackville find the courage to fight back, or will Dreer's iron grip prove unshakeable?
