Kid Colt Outlaw #71

Joe Maneely's cover for this 1957 Atlas Western crackles with frontier tension: Kid Colt — red-jacketed, cowhide vest, and twin six-guns drawn — pivots in a dusty frontier street, caught between shadowy figures pressing in from the left and a smirking, well-dressed gunman squaring off against him outside the Silver Saloon. The banner promises "Silver Ghost Showdown!" and "Gunhawks Not Wanted!", setting up a story from writer Joe Gill and artist Jack Keller that sounds like it puts the Kid right in the crossfire. At a dime a copy, this is a tight little slice of mid-50s Western adventure done with real craft.
