“Wide-Open Town”

Joe Maneely's cover for this September 1955 Atlas title puts Kid Colt front and center, twin revolvers drawn and smoking as he surveys trouble in a "wide-open town" — with a tense standoff near the jailhouse playing out in the background. The cover promises plenty of frontier action from writer Joe Gill and artist Jack Keller, plus a bonus tale, "The Ramrod," rounding out the issue. At a dime a copy, this was solid Western entertainment for Atlas fans in 1955.
