Cover artist Joe Maneely puts Kid Colt front and center in a tense, dynamic standoff — the white-hatted outlaw faces down a charging gang of mounted gunmen with both pistols drawn and a lasso whipping through the air, while a rifleman scrambles across the rocky cliffs above. At just a dime a copy, this April 1955 Atlas Western delivers the promise right on its cover: "Ambush!" — and from the looks of it, Kid Colt is outnumbered but far from outmatched. Inside, Jack Keller brings the art to the feature story, "The Land Grabber!", with writing by Joe Gill rounding out what looks like a fine month on the frontier.
