Mr. Bassett hides Kid Colt from a posse. Dying of an illness, Bassett asks Colt to ensure his son Ben doesn't become an outlaw. Colt agrees and after Bassett's death finds Ben is a gambler, losing his money to Wilks. When Ben hears his father is dead he gambles away his inheritance. Ben rejects Colt's guidance and becomes an agent of Wilks, agreeing to help him rob a bank but Ben changes his mind during the robbery and instead helps Colt defeat Wilks' gang.
