“Clowntime Is Over”

In "Clowntime Is Over," the New York Smashers celebrate a hard-fought win over the Los Angeles Runners, but their victory is quickly overshadowed by a daring museum heist orchestrated by a mysterious circus troupe—foiled once again by Kickers Inc. The following week, the Smashers dominate the Chicago Comets to clinch a Super Bowl berth, but the triumph turns tense when Jack’s aggressive play leaves an opponent injured. With the game over, Jack heads to a private meeting with the league’s commissioner, setting the stage for a moment that could change everything. Written by Terry Kavanagh and Ron Altaville, with dynamic art by Rod Whigham and inks by Tony DeZuniga, this 1987 Marvel issue features a cover by John Buscema.
