This June 1940 issue of Keen Detective Funnies puts the Masked Marvel front and center — literally leaping from above onto the deck of a pirate submarine flying the skull-and-crossbones, fists raised and clad in a bold red jumpsuit with a domino mask. Ben Thompson's cover crackles with nautical mayhem: smoke billowing from the water, enemy sailors scrambling across a red submarine hull, and ships in chaos on the horizon. With features including The Eye, Dan Dennis, Spy Hunters, Dean Denton, and Park O'Leary also promised inside, this is a fine snapshot of Golden Age anthology adventure at its most energetic.
