Kathy — billed as "The Teen-Age Tornado" — is in fine form in this 1960 Marvel charmer, cover art by Stan Goldberg. The scene finds our plaid-skirted heroine at a department store swimsuit counter, asking the rotund, bemused sales clerk Mr. Smith for something a little briefer, while he cheekily redirects her toward the handkerchief department — a purple swimsuit on display nearby making his point for him. Goldberg's breezy, expressive linework perfectly captures the light comic energy that made this series such a cheerful slice of early-'60s teen humor.
