Karate Kid #12

The tagline says it all — "Alone Against the Legion!" — and Rich Buckler and Jack Abel's cover delivers on that promise with Karate Kid squaring off in a fierce exchange of blows against a berserk Superboy, red cape flying, while a group of Legionnaires closes in menacingly from the background. The speech bubbles crackle with urgency: Smallville has already been destroyed, and now the entire Legion is aimed squarely at our hero. It's a genuinely gripping setup from DC's 1978 lineup, putting one of comics' most skilled martial artists at the center of an impossible odds scenario.
