Kapitein Ansjovis #4

The fourth adventure of Kapitein Ansjovis arrives with a cover that sets a delightfully chaotic tone: the stout, tricorn-hatted captain is flat on his back on a wooden deck, his arms and legs pulled in four different directions by four anthropomorphic horses tugging gleefully at his limbs — a literal interpretation of the subtitle Gevierendeeld ("Quartered"). Floris De Smedt's bright, cartoony linework gives the whole scene a slapstick energy that feels perfectly suited to this Belgian all-ages series. If you're already aboard for the Kapitein's misadventures, this 2020 Syndikaat release looks like another thoroughly entertaining voyage.
