Kamandi, the Last Boy on Earth #18

Bruce Berry's most viscerally imaginative covers: a colossal orange creature called "The Eater" — its enormous, jagged-toothed maw gaping wide — bears down on a blonde figure sprawled helplessly beneath it, while armored humanoid figures scramble through the rubble on either side. The cover copy alone says it all: "It lived and hungered and ate anything in its path — ANYTHING!" — a promise that Kirby's post-apocalyptic world still had fresh terrors to offer in 1974. For fans of wild, imaginative science fiction comics, this one is hard to walk past.
