The lush, prehistoric world of Kalimbo comes alive in this second volume, subtitled "Voorbij de einder" ("Beyond the Horizon"). Frédéric Besson's cover art draws the eye immediately to a massive, brooding gorilla dominating the foreground amid dense jungle foliage, while behind him a waterfall cascades through ancient greenery and a woolly mammoth stands beside a lion on a rocky ledge above — hinting at a lost world where wildly different creatures share the same impossible landscape. Written by Crisse and Xmed with art, inks, and colors all by Besson, this 2016 Dutch-language release from Daedalus looks like a thoroughly inviting adventure into untamed territory.
