This is an anthology issue featuring two crime stories. The first story involves a police officer named Anderson who receives protection from his captain after being involved in a shooting at a wrecked tenement; when a criminal named Cass is later picked up, Anderson learns that Cass had been checking on him the whole time, having set up Anderson with a phone call and a bullet-proof vest to keep him safe. "Hand of Fate!" tells of a woman who calls the police in distress on the evening of February 3rd after a man named Fred King asks her for a cop; when police arrive, they discover a dead man wearing a glove and holding a gun, with the woman claiming she saw only a hand—no body attached—firing the fatal shot.
