This anthology issue contains three crime stories adapted from true police and FBI cases. "The Safecrackers" follows Frank Race, an expert in handling nitro who was known to the mob and used by them in their operations, until law enforcement apprehends him. "Closeups" presents multiple short crime cases, including the story of Mike Ramer, a prolific car thief and cop killer with exceptional marksmanship who is eventually captured, and the tale of a "fishpole burglar" named Johnny the Gimp who steals from sleeping residents in the Bronx. "Boomerang!" tells of a man named Dan who killed Thompson for money, stole nearly twenty thousand dollars from a post office, and was ultimately captured by authorities—his crime returning to haunt him as suggested by the story's title.
