"The Man Who Died Twice" follows Frank Daniels, a man with a questionable past who registered at a Cincinnati hotel on March 12, 1922, using an alias; his predecessor Captain Frank Daniels had been proud of his World War service medals and pension, refusing to apply for additional benefits beneath his dignity. A separate story involves the pursuit of Tina Lanzi, a woman connected to an underworld figure, with special agents tracking her movements after she evades an initial contact; her associate Roy Devlin, a hardened criminal with a record of arrests, is placed under surveillance in Florida, and when he stops communicating with her, a blonde woman agrees to infiltrate his location. Another story features FBI agents pursuing criminals through the Virginia hills, involving a search for Kinnie Wagner and other fugitives hiding in the mountains.
