Eclipso's plan comes to it's apex: he tortures Zauriel, which cause the Spectre to appear. The two entities then battle but the Spectre gets weaker by the moment. The Justice League -- with Obsidian's help -- escapes Eclipso's clutches and discovers the ex-angel's true goal: he wants to use the Spectre to kill God. As the JLA and their allies Blue Lantern, Green Lantern and Obisidan rally for a final battle, Eclipso cleaves the Spectre and the moon in twain, beginning the End of Days.
